The Other Ones Foundation creates sustainable pathways to stable housing and independence by providing reliable shelter, developing workforce skills and opportunities, and offering a supportive environment to our neighbors experiencing homelessness in Austin, TX.

Position Overview:

The Executive Director (ED) serves as the key management leader of The Other Ones Foundation (TOOF). This role is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs, and strategic plan of the organization. The ED will champion TOOF's mission, vision, and values, ensuring impactful community outreach, financial sustainability, and operational excellence. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Board Governance:

○ Partner with the Board of Directors to fulfill TOOF’s mission.
○ Provide transparent, timely, and accurate information to support informed Board decisions.
○ Collaborate with the Board on governance best practices and strategic initiatives.

2. Financial Performance and Viability:

○ Develop and manage diverse revenue streams to ensure financial health.
○ Lead fundraising strategies, donor engagement, and investment initiatives.
○ Ensure fiscal integrity through budget management, financial reporting, and resource allocation.

3. Mission and Strategy Implementation:

○ Design and execute programs that align with TOOF's mission and strategic goals.
○ Foster community partnerships to enhance TOOF's visibility and impact.
○ Drive strategic planning in collaboration with the Board and staff.

4. Organizational Leadership and Operations:

○ Recruit, develop, and support a high-performing senior leadership team.
○ Cultivate a culture of transparency, fierce authenticity, and resilience within the organization.
○ Ensure legal and regulatory compliance across all operations.
○ Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, government agencies, and community partners.

5. Community Engagement and Advocacy:

○ Serve as the primary spokesperson for TOOF, representing the organization in public forums, with media, and at community events.
○ Advocate for policies and initiatives that support TOOF’s mission and the broader homeless response system.
○ Strengthen partnerships with local government, community leaders, and advocacy groups to advance systemic change.

Professional Qualifications:

  • Transparent, high-integrity leadership aligned with TOOF’s values.
  • Preferred minimum of 10 years of experience in the Austin/Travis County homeless response system.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior leadership position at a nonprofit agency, preferably addressing homelessness.
  • Proven success in working with Boards of Directors and leading diverse teams.
  • Strong fundraising experience with demonstrated donor relations and revenue growth.
  • Proven track record writing, securing, and overseeing the implementation of grants and government contracts of at least $5 million.
  • Familiarity with local government officials, philanthropists, foundations, and the Continuum of Care coordinator.
  • Some experience with owner-side property development.
  • Clinical licensure with the ability to supervise is a plus.
  • Expertise in strategic planning, financial management, and program development.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with key community influencers, funders, and partner organizations.

Salary Range: The salary range for this position is between $125,000-175,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
