RECA’s Christmas in October is bringing more hope to The Esperanza Community!

This year, RECA is partnering with The Other Ones Foundation (TOOF) for Christmas in October. TOOF is a nonprofit agency that offers humanitarian aid, case management and low-barrier work opportunities to people experiencing homelessness in Austin, TX.

The Esperanza Community is a sanctioned encampment in Austin managed and operated by TOOF. The residents of the site are working together with TOOF to build a transitional shelter community where unhoused individuals can find the stability they need to move on to a safer and more fulfilling life. TOOF is building 200 individual shelter units as the residents work towards stable housing.

There are many outdoor landscaping and beautification projects throughout the Esperanza Community that our members can participate in to enhance the area. We will be building the space up with planters, trees, picnic tables for their covered community eating space and porch beautification for the individual units.

Your financial support is vital to achieve these efforts and continue providing services for our neighbors experiencing homelessness. Our goal is to raise $50,000 in cash and in-kind gifts to support these efforts.
