TOOF’s Housing Stability Program is proud to launch its summertime service project, Barrier Busting & the Stay-Housed Cleaning Initiative—a targeted initiative to help individuals and families experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness maintain or secure safe housing.
This project provides one-time financial assistance to eligible households in need of support with critical move-in or housing stabilization costs. Whether you’re moving into a new unit, trying to avoid eviction, or facing barriers that prevent you from securing a lease, this program may be able to help.
🚫 What We Can’t Cover
- Current or Past Due Rent
- Current and Past Due Utility Bills
✅ What We Can Help With
- Housing application fees
- Security and utility deposits (including reconnection fees)
- Pet deposits (up to $500 per pet or $1,000 total)
- Moving costs (with vendor quotes)
- Storage fees (up to 1 month)
- Additional or risk deposits
- Landlord incentives (for leases 6+ months)
- Cleaning or remediation (for lease violations tied to a documented disability)
🏠 Renting a Room?
You may qualify, as long as:
- You're not related to or financially tied to your landlord
- You have a lease for at least 6 months
- Costs are reasonable and improve your housing stability
Note: Room renters cannot receive help with utility deposits.
